Male childcare workers are every bit as essential as their female counterparts. At h&h, we believe that male childcare workers offer positive male role models and give their charges a well-rounded perspective on life.
With this in mind, we welcome male childcare students at all levels. One such student is Ruhel Mistry, who is studying Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care CHC30113with h&h Accredited Training.
Ruhel is originally from India and has been living in Australia for 11 months. He revealed that he heard about h&h Accredited Training through friends in his tightly knit Indian community and was compelled to study with us.
“I found h&h as I have a friend who was studying here,” he recalled. “She told me it was so good, so she introduced me to the college community. I was able to sit in on a class, so I could see what it was all about and get an idea if I would like it. They made me instantly feel at ease, which was important as I am new to Australia. I really liked it, so I signed up.
Why Men Should Consider Childcare
While we don’t really believe in gender specific roles here at h&h, we do acknowledge that childcare typically attracts female students and employees. So, we couldn’t help but ask Ruhel, what drew him to this area?
“My children have grown,” he explained. “I have a lot of experience in raising children as well as patience. This firsthand experience, I believe, makes me good with kids. I like to help my community in this way and positively influence the next generation.”
At the time of interviewing Ruhel, he was five months into his Cert III of Early Childhood Education and Care. He was completing his work placement at Milestones Early Learning in Kellyville Ridge and looking forward to a bright future.
“I am definitely thinking about doing my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50113 once I complete these qualifications. I am really looking forward to finding a full-time job and getting into the industry.”
Ruhel also revealed that he is so happy to have found h&h Accredited training.
“h&h is such a great college. We have such a great General Manager and my trainer is fantastic. Through the curriculum, we also have learned a lot about Australia, its first people and all the rules and regulations. It is a very comprehensive course and education. “
Ruhel’s Advice for Male Childcare Workers
Ruhel acknowledges that childcare isn’t a male-dominated industry, however he encourages men to look into it as a fantastic employment opportunity and career path. “The children see me as a kind of father figure, and they enjoy having extra male role models in their lives.”
